At the end of 2020 the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) was put into operation. Since 31st December 2020, natural gas from Azerbaijan has been delivered to Europe via the TAP pipeline, which went into operation on 15th November 2020.
In the current year, a total of 11 billion cubic metres of natural gas were transported from Azerbaijan to Turkey and Europe via the TANAP and TAP pipelines. Azerbaijan delivered 5.4 billion cubic metres to Turkey and 7.3 billion cubic metres to Europe via the TANAP gas pipeline, according to Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov.
The TAP is part of the “Southern Gas Corridor” pipeline project, which covers a total of about 3500 kilometres. The natural gas from the gigantic “Shah Denis 2” gas field is transported to Europe via the TAP pipeline.
