The Baku Energy Forum ran from June 2nd to June 04th, 2022 at the capital’s Congress Center. The Forum, held within the framework of the Baku Energy Week, focused on global energy prospects, opportunities for development and extraction of energy reserves in the Caspian region, financing the transition to green energy and a number of other topical issues. The forum’s program included 25 topics from 50 speakers. The plenary session was devoted to the theme “New opportunities and challenges in a changing world in the phase of an energy transition”.Within the framework of the Forum, a framework agreement and a series of bilateral agreements were to be signed between Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry and the company “BP Exploration Limited” on the implementation of a higher education program on renewable energy sources.
For years, the Baku Energy Forum has provided a unique opportunity to meet with leaders of the energy sector, to establish new effective and mutually beneficial relations and to expand existing ones.
Before the conclusion of the Forum, a meeting was held in the city of Shusha. The session was devoted to the topic “Potentials and opportunities of green energy in Karabakh region”.
During this special session in the Azerbaijani city of Shusha, liberated from Armenian occupation, a cooperation agreement was signed between Azerbaijani and British oil companies SOCAR and BP. The agreement was signed by SOCAR First Vice President Rovshan Najaf and BP Regional President Gary Jones. The document focuses on studying of the potential of renewable energy in Azerbaijan and the Karabakh region, cooperation in this field and implementation of joint projects.
